holgates caravan parks - Silver Ridge, milnthorpe

Holgates Caravan Parks is a family owned business, established in 1956, offering a range of parks to suit both families and couples looking for a holiday haven.

With six parks in total, spread across the Cumbrian and Lancashire coastline, each one offers something different.

Holgates Caravan Parks have been a customer of Howsons Ltd for many years, and we have been fortunate in working closely with them on many different projects throughout this time. When the management team at the Silver Ridge site in Milnthorpe decided to add a WiFi system on to the park, we were only too happy to advise.

Traditional wireless antennas are either ‘omnidirectional’ (radiating signals in all directions), or ‘directional’ (radiating signals in one direction).

Ruckus Beamflex Adaptive Antenna Technology takes a more adaptable approach. Beamflex technology enables the antenna system with a Ruckus AP to continually sense and optimise for its environment.

The park were looking for a high-quality system that was able to give the best coverage possible, ideally whilst remaining discreet and unobtrusive so as not to detract from the landscape of the park. Following various meetings with the team at Silver Ridge and a through and informative site visit, we opted to install Ruckus Wireless Technology as we felt confident that this would meet the client’s requirements.

a perfect escape

Enjoying an elevated and secluded position amongst mature woodland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Silver Ridge represents a new standard.

It makes an ideal base for exploring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, as well as the unspoilt shoreline of Morecambe Bay and the many quaint towns and villages of this tranquil and picturesque corner of the North West.

Silver Ridge needed a premium WiFi solution to match the premium standard of the park and Ruckus Wireless, with its superior, patented radio technology offered everything they needed.

Following the site surveys, we decided that 24 access points around the park would give sufficient coverage and we intended to install these at low level, keeping them as inconspicuous as possible so as not to impact on the visual aspect of the site, and to prove less radio crosstalk and overlap.

To ensure maximum customer satisfaction and to reduce the possibility of extra workloads.queries to staff regarding the system, we set up a dedicated 24/7 365 day 1st line telephone support program, including 2nd line support and software updates/remote support during normal office hours.

Using Ruckus’s patented ‘Beamforming’ technology with the access points meant that the adequate signal could be provided to achieve a minimum speed of 35mbps on a mobile inside the caravans across the park.

Users of the service would be met with a simple, free, click to connect splash screen to provide an unlimited service of 10mbps and staff would have access to an encrypted, private SSID, giving them unlimited access and speed.
